You will get a system message saying "Salvage in progress,-", you will see some chains coming out of the front part of your ship, and you will see the items droping: Special Salvage! - Pirate Hideout Pirate Hideout can be considered a special salvage area, since when you use salvage skill there you don't get the usual items (trading goods) but many different items. Rainbow Fruit - Can be used to recover a considerable amount of HP (double click to use). Is stocked on your inventory in stacks of 99 max. Dye - Can be used to create colorant, which is used to change your hairstyle. I'm sure you can get Blue, Red, Yellow, Green and Cyan dyes, but I believe you can get any dye color by salvaging (blue and red are just the more common ones).
